15 years ago, The Elite Cafe was one of the hottest Cajun restaurants in town. Today it's populated by neighborhood types and a few tourists who wander into its inviting, high ceilinged turn-of-the-century-esque environs. There are enclosed wooden booths that are private, while the tables in the center of the room can be loud. The Elite is known for its shellfish and mollusks: try any of the daily oyster specials with one of the 20 wines offered by the glass.
